It's the number 1 commercial station for people in South Yorkshire, which means they are the most popular radio station in South Yorkshire. The BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) is a public sector broadcaster, which are a public funded service. The BBC was set up in 1927 which then it was the only Radio Station, as they was the only radio in the UK it was a very important service. Lord Reith was the first general director of the BBC, when their aim was to do three things; inform, educate, entertain.
The Main audience for BBC Radio Sheffield, will be people located in Sheffield, is targeted at people over the age of 50, as they have discussion and a lot of younger people listen to the radio for pop music, it also plays music such as classical and modern soul.

The BBC conforms the BBC brand by playing memorable songs, and jingles through the radio and constantly advertise the BBC logo to the public which is simple and easy to remember they do this through synergy. Brand: In business terms a 'brand' is a name, term, design, symbol or any other feature that identifies one seller's good or service as distinct from those of other sellers. Apple is an example of a brand.
Portfolie: A collection of investments held by an institution or a private individual.
Joint venture company is a company owned by two companies and is mutually beneficial.
Bauer has a main competitor in terms of his radio which is Capital.
Competitor is a company that delivers the similar services or goods as another company and is in the same market.
Commercial: Is a company that makes a profit.
NRS Social Grades:

It is important for media producers to target ABC1's because they're the people with the most income, so they are most likely to buy tickets and luxuries, they also sell their product to advertisers. However the lower social grades are also the target audience for things like The Sun because they could include role models, and is simple enough for a 12 year old to read.
