The BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) is a public sector broadcaster, which are a public funded service. The BBC was set up in 1927 which then it was the only Radio Station, as they was the only radio in the UK it was a very important service. Lord Reith was the first general director of the BBC, when their aim was to do three things; inform, educate, entertain.

The Main audience for BBC Radio Sheffield, will be people located in Sheffield, is targeted at people over the age of 50, as they have discussion and a lot of younger people listen to the radio for pop music, it also plays music such as classical and modern soul.
